You can return an appliance to Best Buy within 15 days of purchase or delivery. Appliances do not need to be factory sealed or in their original packaging. Best Buy Appliance Return Policy
Best Buy allows appliance returns within 15 days of purchase or delivery. This policy applies to new, clearance, open-box, refurbished, and pre-owned appliances. There is no extended return period for My Best Buy Elite and Elite Plus members.
The appliance does not need to be factory sealed or in its original packaging. You can even return an appliance that has been installed. But, keep in mind, the item should be in good condition and Best Buy will deduct the cost of any missing accessories from your refund.
Some appliance returns will incur a 15% restocking fee. Select items include:
- Built-in cooktops
- Built-in refrigerators
- Built-in wall ovens
- Special-order appliances
Note: There is no restocking fee in states where such fees are prohibited by law; at the time of writing, these states include Alabama, Colorado, Hawaii, Iowa, Mississippi, Ohio, Oklahoma, and South Carolina.
To return an appliance to Best Buy in-store, you’ll need to bring the receipt or packing slip, the credit card you used to make the purchase, and a valid photo ID. Best Buy typically issues refunds to the original payment method but will issue a refund check if you paid more than $800 in cash.
Online orders can be returned in-store, shipped back, or picked up. Shipping and pickup costs will be deducted from your refund unless the reason for return is a Best Buy error, such as delivery of the wrong product, or a manufacturing defect. Estimated return shipping costs can be found in your Best Buy account online. Contact Best Buy’s customer service department at (888) 237-8289 to discuss pickup costs and arrange for pickup. (You can also contact customer service to arrange for pickup of appliances purchased in-store; fees may apply.)
If the appliance arrived damaged, contact Best Buy’s customer service department within 48 hours of delivery. Best Buy will pick up the appliance at no cost if the return is due to damage or defect upon delivery.
Installation fees are non-refundable after the installation is complete, but there is a 90-day workmanship warranty if you encounter any issues after installation. The 90-day workmanship warranty covers the work of the installer, not that of the manufacturer.
