You can return underwear at many retailers, including Aerie, Amazon, Costco, Kohl’s, Macy’s, Target, Victoria’s Secret, and Walmart. However, most stores only accept underwear returns in new condition.
Can You Return Underwear?
Underwear is returnable at many stores. Some retailers require underwear to be in new condition and with price tags; others will allow you to return worn or washed underwear.
Below, we list which stores will allow you to return underwear in each condition. We contacted corporate customer service representatives and store associates at major clothing retailers across the U.S. to confirm these policies.
Stores That Accept Returns in Any Condition
Several stores will accept underwear in any condition and without price tags attached, though they do typically require the item to have its sewn-in garment labels.
The following stores allow returns for underwear in worn or washed condition, with or without a receipt:
- Costco (Our article features the Costco clothing return policy.)
- Land’s End
- Victoria’s Secret (See our article on the Victoria’s Secret return policy.)
The following stores allow underwear returns in any condition but require a receipt:
- Duluth Trading Co.
We were told that Victoria’s Secret and other stores that accept worn underwear shred and dispose of all used returns.
For more information about these and other retailers with lenient return policies, see our list of major retailers that accept returns without tags.
Stores That Accept Returns of New Underwear
Many stores take underwear returns in new condition. All of the stores listed below require that you return underwear with the price tags still attached, and it must not be worn or washed.
You should also return the underwear in its original packaging; if it has a hygiene safety seal, the seal needs to be intact, indicating that the underwear has not been worn.
You will need to show the original receipt for a full refund.
