Check ‘n Go’s check cashing fees range from around 2% to 6%, depending on the type of check you wish to cash. We contacted multiple locations in Alabama, Kansas, Wisconsin, and Idaho and found these fees to be consistent across these states. Still, it is important to note that check cashing rates may vary by state.
The Check ‘n Go locations we contacted quoted the following rates for different types of checks:
- Personal Checks: 5.99%
- Payroll Checks: 4% for handwritten payroll checks and 2.25% to 2.5% for computer-printed payroll checks
- Government Checks: 1.99% to 2.49%
- Money Orders: 5.99% (Note: Some locations do not cash money orders.)

In order to cash a check at Check ‘n Go, you will need to appear in person, present an unsigned check, and show your government-issued ID. Some locations we contacted added that you would need to purchase a $2, year-long membership if you haven’t cashed a check at Check ‘n Go before.
