Short Answer
Sheetz convenience stores accept EBT for purchases of packaged food, but not fuel or hot food.
Does Sheetz Accept EBT?
Sheetz accepts EBT for qualifying food items in its convenience stores.[1]
You can’t use EBT to buy fuel, buy hot food,[1][2] or get cash back at Sheetz (as previously reported).
We confirmed this information by contacting Sheetz locations in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia and checking the USDA’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) retailer directory.
Qualifying Items
As noted above, you cannot use your SNAP benefits to buy fuel.[2][1]
You also can’t use them to buy prepared or hot foods like burgers and french fries off of the Sheetz “M-T-O” menu.[2][1]
However, Sheetz does sell a variety of items that are EBT-eligible, including:[2][1]
- Candy
- Chips
- Dairy products
- Bottled and cold drinks
See our full list of items you can and can’t buy with EBT.
How to Use EBT at Sheetz
Your EBT card is compatible with a standard card reader; you can use it just like you would a debit or credit card at Sheetz.[1]
If you’re buying a mix of EBT-eligible and ineligible items or have a low EBT balance, you can split your payment.[1]
Let the cashier know you’d like to split the payment. They may need to separate your items into two transactions to process the payment.[3]
For EBT-ineligible items, Sheetz accepts cash, credit cards, debit cards, and digital wallets like Apple Pay (as previously reported).
