Eddie Bauer allows the return or exchange of any purchase within one year. There are no item exclusions, but the item must be in original condition and you must have your receipt to make a return. For more information on returns and exchanges at Eddie Bauer, see below.
Eddie Bauer Return Policy
Eddie Bauer allows customers to return or exchange any item within one year, a corporate customer service representative said. The one-year time limit starts from the date of purchase if you buy in-store or from the delivery date for online orders.
The policy is the same for all customers, including credit cardholders and rewards program members. However, note that Eddie Bauer has a similar, separate guarantee policy for items you return due to manufacturer defects (as previously reported). We called Eddie Bauer locations in Arizona, Florida, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, and Oregon to confirm; every store we spoke with follows the same corporate policy.
There are no item exclusions — even worn or used items are returnable at Eddie Bauer as long as they’re in their original condition. However, you must have your receipt to make a return.
If you misplace your receipt and are an Adventure Rewards member, you can look it up through your online account or have an Eddie Bauer associate look it up in-store or by phone. If you can’t find your receipt and you can’t look up your purchase, you will need to show a valid photo ID to make a return.
In-Store Return and Refund Process
You can return items at a register or the customer service desk at any Eddie Bauer store during regular hours. (See our related article for more stores that allow you to return items to any location.)
You will receive a refund to the original payment method if you have proof of purchase. If you are returning an online purchase in-store, Eddie Bauer will deduct the original shipping charges from your refund amount. No-receipt items are only eligible for exchange or replacement with a comparable item.
Gifts accompanied by a gift receipt are eligible for a refund of the full price to a merchandise gift card. If you do not have the gift receipt, you will receive a gift card in the amount of the current item’s price. You can also contact customer service at (800) 426-8020.
Mail-In Return and Refund Process
You can also return online purchases by mail for a refund to the original form of payment. If you return your item(s) by mail, you should allow up to 21 business days for Eddie Bauer to receive and process your return.
To mail in a return, you must use your online order to begin the process or log in to your account. You can request a prepaid shipping label through your online account or call customer service at (800) 426-8020. The prepaid label is a $7 charge for U.S. customers.
Eddie Bauer occasionally offers free return promotional periods; if your purchase took place during one of these promotional periods, you must use the prepaid shipping label included with your order. Eddie Bauer will not deduct return shipping costs from these orders.
If you request a mail-in exchange instead of a return, Eddie Bauer will send your new item once it receives the item you are returning. In-store exchanges happen on the spot at the register or customer service desk.
To expedite a mail-in exchange, you can call (800) 426-8020 and order a new item, then return the original one for a refund. When you call to arrange an exchange via phone, Eddie Bauer will waive the shipping charge. As with mail-in returns, mail-in exchanges will take about 21 business days to process.
