Guitar Center Student Discount Policy
Guitar Center does not offer a student discount, a corporate customer service representative said. We contacted Guitar Center stores in Arizona, Georgia, Massachusetts, Michigan, and Washington to confirm this information; none of the stores we called offer a discount to high school, college, or music school students.
Ways to Save at Guitar Center
The following is a list of ways you can save on your next Guitar Center purchase:
- Sign up for music lessons. Some Guitar Center locations offer music lessons. When you sign up for lessons, you’ll receive a coupon for 10% off a single, regular-price item.
- Try negotiating a price. About half of the store associates we spoke to said you may be able to negotiate a lower price on select items — you just have to ask. Items Guitar Center may be willing to negotiate a price on will vary by location.
- Check for rebates. The Guitar Center website lists available mail-in rebates. To save money, you might want to check the rebate page before settling on a specific item. Rebates can be downloaded and printed from your computer.
- Get the Guitar Center Gear Card. The Guitar Center Gear Card is backed by Synchrony bank and offers rewards of 5% back. For information on Guitar Center’s store credit cards and your approval odds, see our article.
In addition, Guitar Center offers its employees two types of discounts. For details of the Guitar Center employee discount policy, see our related article.
