Does Kmart have Western Union? Yes. Kmart sells Western Union money orders at many of its locations, but Kmart does not cash money orders. Some stores also offer Western Union money transfers and other financial services like check cashing and bill payment. With stores in 48 states, you should be able to find a Kmart location near you.
The Kmart Money Order Policy
Here’s the Kmart money order policy in plain language. Some — but not all — Kmart stores sell money orders. Your local Kmart is more likely to sell money orders if it has a MoneyHub services booth onsite. Not sure if your local store has a MoneyHub? Go to Kmart’s store locator and select a location. As you scroll down, you’ll find the in-store services available. Keep in mind, even if your local store has a MoneyHub, you may want to call ahead to confirm whether or not it sells money orders.
Kmart issues Western Union money orders. The fee to purchase a money order ranges from $0.69 to $1.25, depending on your location. You can purchase money orders in amounts up to $500, and you can purchase more than one if you need an amount over $500.
Kmart does not cash money orders (even those purchased from the store). Looking for a place to cash a money order? See our article: Local Places That Cash Money Orders
Other Kmart MoneyHub Services
In addition to selling money orders, Kmart’s MoneyHub also offers check cashing, money transfers, and bill payment. Below, we’ve outlined what you need to know about these services to make your trip as easy as possible.
Select Kmart stores offer check cashing, where you can cash payroll, tax refund, and government checks up to $2,000 and personal checks up to $500. If you’re a Shop Your Way member, you’ll pay $1 or less for check cashing — just head to the customer service desk for help. If you’re not a Shop Your Way member, you’ll have to join the free rewards program in order to cash checks at Kmart. You can sign up online or in-store with a valid ID.
Through Western Union, you can send and receive money. If you’re sending money, you can send it directly for cash pick up at a Western Union agent (including participating Kmart stores) or directly to someone’s bank account.
Kmart’s Western Union services also include bill payment services. Head to the customer service desk to make payments on participating credit cards, utilities, and more.
Where Else to Purchase a Money Order
If your local Kmart doesn’t have a MoneyHub, there are plenty of other places where you can buy a money order. One of your best bets is your nearest post office. The USPS sells and backs its own money orders. USPS money order fees start at $1.20 and can be purchased for up to $1,000.
