Short Answer — Kroger offers a Senior Discount Day at select locations in Arkansas and Kentucky. Where available, the discount is 5% and is available every Tuesday to shoppers age 55 or older who present their Kroger Plus Card and proof of age.

Is There a Kroger Senior Discount Day?

There is a Kroger Senior Discount Day at select Kroger locations. The Senior Discount Day used to be widely available; however, it is no longer offered in most Kroger divisions. In 2017, multiple news outlets began reporting that Kroger was discontinuing the program in several regions. This included the Mid-Atlantic, Houston, Columbus, Louisville, and Nashville divisions and surrounding areas, as well as all South Carolina stores. In 2018, Kroger also shuttered all of its Raleigh/Durham stores in North Carolina.

We reached out to Kroger media relations and corporate customer service for more details on Senior Discount Day. Not all divisions answered or returned our phone calls. Of the regional offices we were able to speak with, it was confirmed that the Atlanta and Central divisions (Indianapolis and surrounding areas) have both discontinued Senior Discount Day in their regions. Kroger store associates in these areas confirmed the corporate policy.

Kroger’s corporate headquarters did note, however, that a Senior Discount Day is still available in select Arkansas and Kentucky stores. You will need to call your store directly and speak with a customer service associate to ask if the discount is available.

The discount is offered every Tuesday, and you must show your Kroger Plus Card and proof of age to receive the discount. Other Ways to Save Money at Kroger

After discontinuing Senior Discount Days in many locations, Kroger announced that it was lowering prices across all stores. However, if you’re looking for more targeted ways to save money at Kroger, you have several options.

The grocery store chain offers a free Kroger Plus Card, which gives you access to special sales and markdowns happening in the store. Signing up for a Plus Card will also enroll you in Kroger’s Fuel Program, which earns you one fuel point for every $1 you spend, 50 fuel points on qualifying prescriptions, and double the fuel points on gift cards. Points can be redeemed at any Kroger Fuel Center for savings on gas.

Kroger also offers select cash back deals on its website, which you can load directly to your Plus Card account. After you’ve reached $20 in cash back, you can either credit your Plus Card account or opt to receive cash via PayPal.

Lastly, Kroger offers Free Friday coupons on the first Friday of every month, good for one free item. This deal is available exclusively to customers with an online Kroger account.
