Office Depot Student Discount Policy & OfficeMax Student Discount Policy

Office Depot and OfficeMax offer a student discount at very few store locations. Individual stores set their own discount policies, corporate customer service representatives said. Where available, the amount varies by location. Student discounts are not available online but may be up to 20% off at participating store locations, one of the corporate representatives told us.

We called dozens of Office Depot and OfficeMax (owned by Office Depot) locations and found only two (one in Tucson, Ariz., and another in Salt Lake City, Utah) that offer a student discount. Store associates at locations in Colorado, Georgia, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Washington all said no student discount is available. The Tucson store discount is available to University of Arizona and Pima Community College students with a valid school ID. Discount amounts vary by item. At the Salt Lake City store, a student discount is only available on printing services. Contact your nearest Office Depot or OfficeMax to find out if it offers a student discount — and for how much and on what services.

While it won’t help you save on your own purchases, Office Depot and OfficeMax offer a program for pre-K through 12th-grade students to help their local schools get free supplies. By providing your school’s name or ID number at checkout in-store or online, your school will get 5% of your qualifying purchase price in credits that can be used toward free supplies. You can find your school’s ID number on OfficeDepot.com.
