Can Walgreens look up receipts? Walgreens and the Walgreens-owned chain Duane Reade can look up your receipt if you are a myWalgreens member. Returns are available for purchases made within the last 30 days. We have the full details of Walgreens’ return and receipt lookup policies below.
Can Walgreens Look Up Receipts?
Losing a receipt can make returns difficult. However, at Walgreens, store associates are able to look up receipts as long as you used your myWalgreens account at checkout.[1] We spoke to associates at three different Walgreens locations and a corporate customer service representative to confirm this information.
Since Duane Reade stores are owned by Walgreens, they follow the same receipt lookup policy. If you had your unique myWalgreens app barcode scanned at checkout at Duane Reade, receipt lookup is possible; purchases at both stores are eligible for myWalgreens rewards.[2][3]
If you have your original receipt or are a myWalgreens member, you can receive a refund to the original payment method. The myWalgreens program is free to join and lets you earn points on each store purchase.[3]
If you are not a myWalgreens member, you can return in-store purchases without a receipt, but you may receive a refund as store credit. Returns without a receipt are subject to approval by the store manager.[4]
For any in-store return, with or without a receipt, you’ll need to show a photo ID. Returns are accepted within 30 days of purchase.[5][4]
Walgreens store associates suggest calling ahead before returning an item without a receipt so store management is aware of the return. Returns after the 30-day return period may still be accepted at the store manager’s discretion.
Walgreens Return Policy Restrictions
In most cases, items can be returned to Walgreens for a refund within 30 days of purchase, with or without a receipt, as we’ve reported. However, there are some items that cannot be returned at Walgreens, including:[4]
- Prescriptions
- Seasonal items
- Sexual wellness items
- Gift cards
- Pre-paid cards
- Phone cards
What about contact lenses? Walgreens will refund contact lens purchases under certain conditions. Contact lenses can be returned for a refund if you received the wrong lenses, if your lenses are damaged or defective, or if you ordered the wrong prescription.[4]
CVS can look up your receipt as well if you need to. And it’s a simpler process at CVS.
