Walmart Laptop & Tablet Return Policy Detailed

Short Answer: Walmart allows returns of laptops and tablets within 30 days of purchase or delivery. You’ll need to provide proof of purchase, the original packaging, and any included accessories. For more information about returning laptops and tablets at Walmart, see below.

Walmart Laptop and Tablet Return Policy

Walmart accepts laptop and tablet returns within 30 days of purchase (when bought in-store) or delivery (when bought online). Most items at Walmart are returnable within 90 days, but laptops and tablets fall under the “consumer electronics” category and have a shorter return window.[1]

Walmart extends its standard computer and tablet return policy during the holiday shopping season. This policy typically applies to purchases made from October 16 through December 25, and it allows for the 30-day return window to begin starting on December 26 instead of the date of purchase.[2][1]

Requirements

Walmart requires proof of purchase for laptop and tablet returns.[1] This can include the original store receipt, packing slip, or a store return receipt printed from your Walmart.com account.[2] You’ll also need to provide the original packaging and any accessories included in the box (as previously reported).

Note that Walmart store managers have final authority over returns, and Walmart does follow a return verification/tracking process. The store may deny your return if you have a history of frequent returns or at the manager’s discretion.

Return Process

You can return in-store and online purchases to any Walmart location (as previously reported). Online purchases are also returnable by mail.

To make an in-store return, bring the laptop or tablet to the customer service desk along with proof of purchase, the original packaging, and any included accessories.[2] If you don’t have the receipt, store associates may be able to look up your purchase with your debit card, credit card, or Walmart.com account information.[1]

There are no restocking fees for laptops and tablets.[2] If you choose to return a laptop or tablet you bought online by mail, Walmart will provide a prepaid FedEx or USPS return label.[3]

Refunds

Walmart typically issues refunds to the original form of payment. If you paid with a check or cash, you’ll receive cash; if you paid with a debit card, credit card, or Walmart gift card, the refund will appear on that card. Note that debit and credit card refunds can take up to 10 days to process.[1]

Since Walmart requires the receipt for consumer electronics returns,[1] you typically can’t get a refund without proof of purchase. However, if Walmart does approve this type of return, you’ll receive an exchange or a store credit refund.[1]
