We spoke with Walmart customer service to confirm that yes, air mattresses are subject to Walmart’s standard return policy, which states that customers have 90 days to return an unopened, unused air mattress with the original receipt and packaging.

If you’ve already opened the package and removed the mattress from the box, it will be eligible for an exchange, provided you have the receipt and the original packaging. If any accessories were included with your air mattress purchase, you’ll need to return those accessories with the air mattress. If you want to return air mattress accessories that were bought separately, they are also subject to the standard 90-day return policy.

  • I purchased an 8-inch memory foam mattress today in-store because I was told by a worker that I had 90 days to test it out before I returned it for a refund, if needed. Is this not the case? I need to upgrade to a 12-inch.

We were told that the official policy requires the mattress to be unused and in its original packaging for a full refund within 90 days. We also confirmed this information with several Walmart stores. However, Walmart does allow exchanges within 90 days if you have opened and used the mattress. Since you want to replace your mattress with a 12-inch model, your local store should be willing to work with you. You will need to contact the store to discuss your options. Best of luck!

      While Walmart has a standard return policy of 90 days if you have the original packaging and the item has not been used, unfortunately, it is ultimately up to the discretion of the store manager whether to accept the return. You may want to try to return the air mattress to another Walmart — you may have better luck with another store manager.
