Where to Buy Stamps Near Me? At These 50+ Places (Gas Stations, etc)

Short Answer: You can buy stamps directly from the U.S. Postal Service at the post office or USPS Self-Service Kiosks, but can also find them at authorized stamp vendors, such as your local bank, convenience stores like 7-Eleven, grocery stores like Kroger, and a variety of other places. How Many Stamps Do You Need?

How many stamps you need depends on how heavy your piece of mail is and what type of mail it is. To send an ordinary letter one ounce or smaller, it costs $0.55, meaning you need one stamp. For each additional ounce, the price increases by $0.15. Since standard stamps don’t come in increments of $0.15, you’ll normally have to just add an extra stamp or pay exact change at the post office. Larger envelopes cost more — $1.00 for the first ounce.

We’ve broken it down for you based on envelope size to help you figure out how many stamps you may need and how much you can expect to pay.

For First-Class Mail Letters

  • $0.55 for the first ounce (and under) when purchased from USPS (one stamp)
  • $0.15 for each additional ounce, up to 3.5 ounces
  • Maximum dimensions of 6 1/8″ x 11 1/2″

For First-Class Mail Large Envelopes

  • $1.00 for the first ounce (and under) when purchased from USPS
  • $0.15 for each additional ounce, up to 13 ounces
  • Maximum dimensions of 12″ x 15″

In most cases, if you’re sending a simple card or letter, the weight will most likely be under one ounce and a single first-class stamp should cover you for domestic postage. Note that special rates apply for international postage.

Types of Stamps and Prices

Stamps are sold in several different units. Keep in mind that not all units are available at all locations, and the price could be higher if you purchase your stamps at a store instead of a post office. Here are the most common ways that you can purchase stamps and how much each unit typically costs:

First-Class Stamp

A first-class stamp is only worth the amount you pay. (If you buy one for $0.55, it’s always worth $0.55.)

  • Single stamps (individuals, $0.55)
  • Booklets (20 stamps, $11.00)
  • Rolls or coils (100 stamps, $55.00)

The Forever Stamp

A forever stamp’s value increases with the price of first-class stamps. If you purchase a Forever stamp for $0.55 in 2019 but the price in 2021 rises to $0.60 per stamp, your Forever stamp will also rise to be worth $0.60. Hi Alex,

Unfortunately, you cannot order stamps and have them delivered through CVS. However, you can always order your stamps directly here through the U.S. Postal Service.

  • I have seen couple of sites that says that Bank of America and TD Bank sell postage stamps but here you have said they don’t sell stamps can you please confirm it. I don’t know which one to believe.
