You can pay for gas with PayPal by using a mobile wallet — a smartphone app that links with various payment methods and allows you to pay with your phone at checkout terminals.
Not many gas stations accept the PayPal app. However, you can also link your PayPal account to other, more commonly accepted mobile wallets for use in gas stations and other retail stores that accept them.
At stores where mobile wallets are accepted, instead of swiping a card, you can simply tap your phone against the terminal, and your NFC-enabled mobile wallet is automatically detected and charged.
The major mobile wallet apps are:

The List
The following gas stations accept PayPal as a mobile payment. While most gas stations don’t accept the PayPal app directly, many accept Android Pay and Samsung Pay, which can be linked to your PayPal account.
We called customer service at each store to verify the various accepted payment methods and whether you can use mobile payments in-store, at the pump, or both.
Customer service also confirmed that accepted payment methods might vary between locations — so if you’re not sure, it’s best to call your nearest gas station and find out whether they accept these mobile wallets.
