CVS Pharmacy is a national pharmacy chain that does a lot more than sell medicine. You can find a lot at your local CVS, including groceries, beauty supplies, basic office supplies, and more. One such great offering is their extensive gift card selection.

We contacted CVS Pharmacy customer service to see if there was a comprehensive list of all the companies they carry gift cards for, but the customer service representative said gift card selection varies from one location to the next. However, she pointed out that nearly all CVS stores have a large selection of gift cards to choose from. She advised customers with a particular gift card in mind to call ahead to their local CVS store to confirm they carry it before making the trip.

Our article includes gift cards commonly sold at CVS locations.

CVS ExtraCare Rewards (Members Sometimes Get Discounts on Gift Cards)

CVS has a well respected rewards program that provides participants with lots of coupons. Each purchase also adds up and becomes either Extra Bucks or Beauty Bucks. Extra Bucks can be used throughout the store and Beauty Bucks can be used on beauty-related items.

During our visit to the local CVS, the netSpend Visa Prepaid Card had a special offer to receive $5 ExtraBucks if you purchased it. If you’re going to regularly buy gift cards or prepaid cards at CVS, it’s worth joining their rewards program.

Gift Cards Not Commonly Sold at CVS

While CVS does have a really wide variety of options, a few common gift cards were missing at our local CVS. The most notable were:

  • Chick-Fil-A
  • Dave and Busters
  • Justice
  • Redbox
  • Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse
  • Steam
  • Target
  • Toys ‘R’ Us
  • Ulta
  • Victoria’s Secret

That doesn’t mean that all CVS stores do not carry gift cards to the above retailers. Call ahead to your local CVS to confirm whether they carry the gift card you desire.

You also won’t find any of CVS’s competitors like Walgreens or Rite Aid. You’ll have to visit their stores if you’re looking for those gift cards.

In Summary

CVS has a lot of options in the gift card area, so it can be a great resource when you need a quick birthday present or a prepaid card to pay your bills. With options from Pottery Barn to Build-a-Bear to Saks Fifth Avenue, they have a lot of different interests covered.
