Some banks, including Bank of America and Chase, even have ATMs that dispense $100 bills.
Non-customers can exchange smaller bills for $100 bills at banks like Fifth Third Bank and PNC Bank and some retail stores like Kroger, Walmart, Publix, Safeway, and Weis Markets (as long as the store has $100 bills available).

Banks and Financial Institutions
One of the easiest places to get a $100 bill is at your bank or financial institution. You can either withdraw the funds from your account and request it in $100 bills or bring in smaller bills to exchange for larger bills.
Alternately, you can deposit the smaller bills and withdraw the amount in $100 bills — this is especially easy at banks that have ATMs that dispense $100 bills.
If you don’t have a bank account, some banks let non-customers exchange smaller bills for larger bills with a photo ID. Policies may vary by individual bank branches; we’ve noted which banks allow non-customers to exchange bills below.

Grocery Stores
Most grocery stores will let you exchange smaller bills for a $100 bill — provided the store has $100 bills available.
We called multiple locations of several popular grocery store chains to confirm this information.
Policies on fees and limits will vary by location and availability; it’s a good idea to call the store ahead of time to see if it has $100 bills available.
To exchange bills, you’ll want to visit the customer service desk and bring a valid photo ID (though not every location will require an ID).
The following grocery stores will usually exchange smaller bills for a larger bill:

- Kroger
- Publix
- Safeway
- Wegmans

- Whole Foods Market

Retail Stores
We contacted several retail stores, including Barnes & Noble, Costco, The Home Depot, Kohl’s, Target, and Walmart to find out if you can exchange smaller bills for larger bills in-store.
The only store that may offer this service is Walmart; this service is available at the store manager’s discretion. Fees and limits may apply.
We were unable to find any gas stations or convenience store that keep $100 bills — due to safety reasons — and, during our research, we found that drug stores do not typically exchange smaller bills for larger bills.
