Michaels’ Price Adjustment Policy Explained

Short Answer — Michaels offers price adjustments in-store and online if the item’s price drops within seven days of purchase. You can visit the store where you made your purchase for a price adjustment or call Michaels’ customer service for help if you ordered the item online.

Michaels’ Price Adjustment Policy

You should be able to get Michaels price adjustments within seven days of your original purchase, corporate and store customer service associates said.

Michaels’ price adjustment policy applies to both in-store and online purchases, and a corporate representative explained that the adjustment amount will be refunded to your original form of payment.

A price adjustment gives you a partial refund if the price of an item you bought drops soon after your purchase. For example, if you pay $15 for a large bottle of acrylic paint at Michaels and it goes on sale for $10 a few days later, you can get a price adjustment of $5 as a refund.

For in-store purchases, visit the store where you bought the item to get a price adjustment. Note that ultimately, all price adjustments are up to the discretion of the store manager, so you may want to give your local store a call and check for any exclusions before making an in-store price adjustment.

If you ordered online, you’ll need to call Michaels.com customer service at (800) 642-4235 for assistance. Michaels.com price adjustments can’t be processed in-store.

Prices are generally the same in-store and online unless there is a special promotion running, such as an online-only discount, a corporate representative told us. However, if you do find a lower list price on Michaels.com than on the store shelf, Michaels will adjust the price.

Coupons cannot be applied to prior purchases, according to Michaels’ official coupon policy, so if you forget your coupon or get one in the mail soon after your purchase, you won’t be eligible for a price adjustment.

Michaels price adjustments only apply if you find a lower advertised price that doesn’t require a coupon at Michaels.com, in a Michaels print ad, or in a Michaels digital ad within seven days of purchase.

Other Ways to Save at Michaels

In addition to price adjustments, there are several other ways to save at Michaels.

Michaels will price match with identical items from competitors and beat the advertised lower price by 10%. For an online price match, call Michaels.com customer service at (800) 642-4235. To get a price match in-store, just bring proof of the competitor’s price, such as an ad, to the checkout.

Discounts of 15% are offered in-store for teachers and military service members. You’ll just need to show a valid educator, military, or veteran ID at checkout to get the discount. Michaels also offers a 10% discount for seniors age 55 and older with a valid ID.

The retailer also has a fairly generous coupon policy. You can use more than one coupon in a transaction. Michaels even accepts both print and digital competitor coupons. Competitor coupons must not be expired, and they can’t be used on items that have already been price-matched.
