7 Stores That Offer SodaStream Carbonator Exchanges

SodaStream device

SodaStream devices allow you to make carbonated water from the comfort of your home. You can even purchase flavors to add to your sparkling water or turn it into soda.

All SodaStream machines come with a carbonator (a cylinder filled with carbon dioxide). The CO2 is what carbonates the drink — adding “bubbles” to plain water. On average, you’ll need to exchange your carbonator after every 60 liters.[1]

SodaStream carbonators come in different sizes, but the standard size is 60 liters. New carbonators cost about $30, while an exchange costs about $15.[2][3]

If you have a cylinder that SodaStream has discontinued, such as the 130-liter, you can exchange it for a 60-liter cylinder — also for around $15. The 60-liter cylinder fits all SodaStream machines.[4]

You can exchange empty SodaStream carbonators at popular retail chains like Bed Bath & Beyond, Best Buy, Staples, Target, Walmart, and Williams Sonoma. You can also schedule an exchange on the SodaStream website. For more details about where and how to exchange a SodaStream carbonator, see below.

What We Recommend

To get an exchange at the best price without leaving your home, we recommend exchanging your carbonator directly through the SodaStream website. You can have the new carbonator delivered directly to your home, and the company maintains the most consistent stock out of all the companies on our list.

If you’d prefer to make an exchange in person (and potentially avoid shipping fees), consider bringing your carbonator to your local Bed Bath & Beyond, Best Buy, or Walmart.

The List

The following companies exchange empty SodaStream carbonators.

Note that some locations may not offer exchange services or might be out of carbonators. Additionally, most stores only provide refills on 60-liter carbonators. If you’re looking to exchange another size, it’s best to call the store first to find out if it has other sizes available.

We’ve ordered the list below starting with the best overall options.

Hello, David! Unfortunately, SodaStream discontinued the 130-liter cylinder earlier this year, so you will not be able to exchange your cylinders for the same size unless you find a store near you that has leftover 130-liter stock. However, you can exchange your cylinders for 60-liter cylinders at any SodaStream exchange location; this will cost around $15. SodaStream states that the 60-liter cylinder will fit all of its machines. We have updated our article to include this information.
