Can You Cash a Check at a Casino?
Most major casinos do cash checks. However, the types of check accepted varies, and there are often fees and limits associated with casino check cashing. Casinos do not provide full-service check cashing or financial service centers; their services are intended for visitors looking to get cash for casino games. We detail the common check cashing policies by check type below.
Note: It’s a good idea to keep safe gambling practices in mind when cashing a check at a casino. Consider setting a careful budget for your visit. For example, if a casino offers you a high limit for personal checks, choose to cash an amount lower than the limit. Or, if you have several traveler’s checks on hand, cash only one or two of them.

Check Cashing Policies by Check Type
Personal Checks
If you want to cash a personal check at the casino, you’ll have to follow an e-check process, which requires a blank check from your own bank account. This process reduces the risk of casinos cashing bad or bounced checks. It works as follows:
- Give the casino a blank check, your driver’s license, and your social security number.
- The casino will run a check of your credit or check cashing history.
- The results of the credit check will determine your maximum check cashing limit.
- You can then authorize your blank check for any amount up to your limit (provided you have enough money in your checking account).
Traveler’s Checks
Traveler’s checks are the most widely accepted check type at casinos. Since traveler’s checks are prepaid for a fixed amount, they are less risky than other checks for casinos to accept. Even casinos that do not accept personal or payroll checks will often take traveler’s checks.
Payroll Checks
We weren’t able to find any casinos that cash payroll checks. We were advised by one casino customer service representative that while it used to be common practice, most casinos no longer cash payroll checks.

Casinos That Don’t Cash Checks
While the majority of casinos cash at least a few types of checks, some don’t cash checks. We confirmed with customer service representatives from the following Las Vegas casinos that while they accept traveler’s checks, they do not cash personal or payroll checks.

- Silver Sevens (personal check cashing available for hotel guests only)
