Short Answer — While store organization varies by Walmart location, you can typically find common battery types like AA and AAA near the electronics department. The easiest way to find batteries at your local Walmart (besides asking a store associate) is to get the Walmart app and look for in-store item availability.
Where Are Batteries in Walmart?
Walmart often stocks batteries in several areas throughout the store, with some specialized batteries separated by type, according to our research.
Walmart commonly stocks standard alkaline batteries (like AA and AAA) from brands like Energizer and Duracell near the electronics section, customer service representatives from several Walmart locations said. Your local Walmart may also display batteries in the aisle or on end-cap displays near the home goods section and/or at the front of the store.
For smaller batteries, like those needed for hearing aids, you’ll want to check near the pharmacy department.
Keep in mind, store organization varies by Walmart location. While you can search for an item on Walmart.com to see if it’s in stock at your local Walmart, the website does not provide store maps or the item’s in-store location.
However, Walmart’s app (available for iOS or Android) will usually give an item’s location in your local store — if it’s in stock. By setting the “Your Store” field under the “Account” tab to a specific location, you can find out if a particular item is in stock and, if so, in which aisle it’s located.
In addition to calling several Walmart stores, we ran test searches using the Walmart app for a better idea of where you may be able to find batteries in Walmart.
We searched for “Duracell 1.5V Coppertop Alkaline AA Batteries, 8 Pack” and “Duracell Hearing Aid Batteries with Easy-Fit Tab, Size 31” availability at Walmart store locations in Florida, Illinois, Oregon, and Utah. Most of the stores we searched stock AA batteries and other common battery sizes in a “Z” aisle — and one store in Utah lists AA batteries in two places: aisles Z5 and K11.
These locations were consistent at Walmart stores, Walmart Supercenters, and Walmart Neighborhood Markets we contacted.
The hearing aid batteries, however, were not consistently located in one area; we found hearing aid batteries and other specialty batteries in “B,” “C,” “D,” “E,” “G,” and “I” aisles.
