While store organization varies by Walmart location, you can typically find common batteries like sizes AA and AAA near the electronics department. The easiest way to find batteries at your local Walmart (besides asking a store associate) is to download the Walmart app and look for in-store item availability; the aisle where you can find the item in-store should be listed. For more details about where to find batteries in Walmart stores, see below.
Where Are Batteries in Walmart?
Walmart often stocks batteries in several areas throughout the store, with some specialized batteries separated by type, according to our research. Walmart commonly stocks standard alkaline batteries (like AA and AAA) from brands like Energizer and Duracell near the electronics section, customer service representatives from several Walmart locations said. Your local Walmart may also display batteries in the aisle or on end-cap displays near the home goods section and the front of the store. For smaller batteries, like those needed for hearing aids, you’ll want to check near the pharmacy department.
Keep in mind, store organization varies by Walmart location. While you can search for an item on Walmart.com to see if it’s in stock at your local Walmart, the website does not provide store maps or the item’s in-store location. However, Walmart’s app for iOS or Google Play will usually give an item’s location in your local store — if it’s in stock. By setting the “Your Store” field under the “Account” tab to a specific location, you can find out if a particular item is in stock and, if so, in which aisle it’s located.
In addition to calling several Walmart stores, we ran test searches using the Walmart app for a better idea of where you may be able to find batteries in Walmart. We searched for “Duracell 1.5V Coppertop Alkaline AA Batteries, 8 Pack” and “Duracell Hearing Aid Batteries with Easy-Fit Tab, Size 31” availability at Walmart store locations in Florida, Illinois, Oregon, and Utah. Most of the stores we looked up stock AA batteries and other common battery sizes in a “Z” aisle — and one store in Utah lists AA batteries in two places, aisle Z5 and K11. This held true at Walmart Supercenters, regular Walmarts, and Walmart Neighborhood Markets. The hearing aid batteries were not consistently located in one area. We found hearing aid batteries and other specialty batteries in “B,” “C,” “D,” “E,” “G,” and “I” aisles.
You will likely find common battery types near the electronics section at your nearest Walmart. But, keep in mind that store organization varies by location. Specialty batteries may be located elsewhere. To locate batteries in-store, ask a store associate or check the Walmart app for in-store availability and item location information.
