Short Answer — You can get a money order from KeyBank if you have an account or if you are enrolled in the KeyBank Plus Check Cashing program. KeyBank sometimes offers money orders for free, but if you do pay a fee, it will be $5 per money order. KeyBank does not cash money orders but will deposit them in a customer’s account.
KeyBank Money Order Policy
KeyBank offers money orders for both account holders and non-customers. If you do not have an account, you will need to enroll in the KeyBank Plus Check Cashing Program.[1]

Note that KeyBank will not cash money orders but will deposit them in your KeyBank account.
KeyBank Plus Check Cashing Program
KeyBank allows you to purchase money orders without having a bank account by enrolling in the KeyBank Plus Check Cashing program.[2]
You can enroll in the program if you have a regular payroll or government check that you will cash at KeyBank.
If enrolled in the program, you can get KeyBank money orders for free at designated KeyBank Plus Check Cashing locations. You’ll need to bring a government-issued ID, such as a driver’s license, and pay for the money order in cash.

Fees and Limits
You are can get five free money orders per check cashed as a KeyBank Plus member. If you need more than five money orders, KeyBank will charge a $5 fee per money order. The amount limit for money orders is $2,500 per money order; there is no minimum amount.

KeyBank account holders can purchase money orders at any branch. The fee is $5 per money order, and the limit is $2,500.
You may pay with cash or use a debit card to debit your account. You’ll also need to bring a government-issued ID, such as a driver’s license.
One branch told us that the fee may be waived depending on the type of account. For example, if you are a KeyBank Wealth Management customer and have a Key Private Bank Checking Account, you can obtain money orders for free at any branch location.[3]
