You can get a money order 24 hours a day at a limited selection of stores, including 7-Eleven, CVS, and Rite Aid.
If there are no 24-hour money order services near you, places like Walmart, Kroger, Stop & Shop, and Publix typically offer early-morning and late-night money orders.
For more details on where to get 24-hour or after-hours money orders, see below.

After-Hours (But Not 24/7) Options
Below, I’ve compiled the list of places to get money orders that have business hours beyond the standard nine-to-five window.
Note that to purchase a money order from a grocery store, you’ll typically need to visit the customer service desk or money services counter. Even if the store itself opens early and closes late, the customer service hours may differ.
It’s always a good idea to call first and verify that money orders are available at the time you plan to visit.

FAQ
Usually, all you need to buy a money order is the money to cover the money order amount plus the fee. Some stores will require you to show a photo ID or fill out a transaction request form if your money order exceeds a certain dollar amount.[56][63][64]
Most 24-hour options don’t allow the purchase of large money orders.[5][3]
When you purchase a money order with a credit card, you run the risk that the card provider may process the charge as a cash advance. This can lead to additional fees and higher interest rates.[65]
Generally, money orders don’t expire. However, most issuers charge service fees one to three years after purchase, meaning the money order will be worth less than it was at the time of purchase.[66][67] Find out more about money orders expiration.

Fees and acceptable payment methods vary by company and hours may vary by location. You’ll also need a valid government-issued ID for large money orders[56][63][64]

I called to 711 they said they did not do money orders I went to two other ones that were listed as doing money orders until late 11pm for instance they said they stopped doing them at 9 also disappointed with the unreliability of Walmart they were listed as doing money orders until late midnight they don’t I went to two different ones waste of time I needed the money order by 7 a.m. in the morning very important CVS how ever came through 24-hour store near me
Hi,
Sorry to hear some of the stores gave you a problem! While they are often open 24/7, they don’t necessarily sell money orders 24/7. And with stores like Walmart, the money center sometimes has different hours than the whole store. Glad to hear CVS worked out though!
I’m not about all 7 eleven stores but I know the few that I have tried to get a money order after 10pm I was told they start selling them at 6am and stop selling them at 9pm
Hi Corine,
I definitely apologize for any inconvenience that the article has caused for you. I’ve reached out to 7-Eleven customer support regarding this issue and I’ll be sure to update this comment and (if necessary) the article as soon as I hear back. Thank you for bringing this to our attention!
Hi Corine,
I wanted to let you know that I did hear back from 7-Eleven customer support. I was informed that because the stores are often independently franchised, the hours for money order purchases can vary by location. I’ve made a note of this in the article so that other readers are aware of this policy. Thank you for writing in!
