Short Answer: As of October 2019, peer-to-peer car rental service Turo has suspended its referral program. Formerly, a promo code could save users up to $25 on their first rental by clicking through a referral link. According to Turo customer service, the program has been paused indefinitely with no immediate plans to bring it back. For more details on Turo promo codes and its referral program, see below.
Is There a Turo Promo Code?
Formerly, new Turo renters could get a $25 credit toward their first rental by clicking through a referral link to create an account. Once your account was active, you also had the option to invite friends to join Turo, earning you as much as $75 if your referral listed their own vehicle for rent on the app.
However, Turo recently announced on its website that it has paused its referral program. We reached out to the ridesharing company for an explanation and spoke with representatives over the phone and via email. One representative simply explained the program had been suspended indefinitely. When pressed for details on when or if it would return, we were told there were no current plans to bring it back.
We followed up via email and received a similar response. Another corporate representative explained that Turo users have expressed dissatisfaction with the referral program; as a result, the company discontinued it. Turo has instead been using the funds to finance All-Star Host promos and guest loyalty programs, all while figuring out what steps to take next.
While the referral program is no more, Turo customer service did note that members should check their email for current deals and promotional offers.
The Perks of Renting a Car With Turo
Turo can still be a worthwhile way to rent a car. Formally known as RelayRides, Turo is currently available in more than 5,500 cities in 56 countries around the world. Much like Airbnb for cars, users can offer their own vehicles for rent through the app whenever they’re not in use. If you live in an area with a large Turo database, this can mean a wide range of available vehicles — much more so than you might find at a rental agency like Hertz or Enterprise. Turo also offers much lower pricing than you may find at a car rental agency (as much as 35% cheaper, according to Turo). This is due to the fact that Turo does not have to maintain storefronts or a fleet of vehicles.
In addition, Turo also offers 24/7 roadside assistance and up to $1 million in liability insurance.
